Sport fishing Yachts and leissure boats receives a three-month Certificate of Temporary Import upon entering Costa Rica. A three-month renewal may be obtained prior to expiration, or the ship must abandon the country. Another possibility is obtaining a one or two-year permit. A docking contract with a local marina for non-commercial use is required. Requirements: * Certificate of Temporary Import. * Notarial certificate of current ownership. * Sworn statement by owner on authenticity and legitimacy of ownership title, including boat characteristics. * Certificate from a local marina on a docking contract for non-commercial use. * Photocopy of owner’s passport. * A power of attorney authorizing our company to process permit. * In the event that a company owns the ship, a power of attorney stating the boat representative is a legal representative for the company, and may act on its behalf, is required. * Certificate of creation and registration of the company. Once the documentation is submitted, the authorities will conduct an inspection to verify that the ship is docked at the location stated in the local marina. The inspection will take place within a three-day period following submittal of documents. An alternative is the Permit for a Foreign Ship to Remain in National Waters to conduct commercial activities providing cruise-type services. In addition to the requirements listed above, the following are also required: * Lifeboats and life vests for all passengers. * Photocopy of civil responsibility insurance policy for the maximum number of passengers. Obtaining a sport fishing license in national waters Requirements: * Certificate of Temporary Import * Certificate of Registration * In the event that a company owns the ship, a power of attorney stating the boat representative is the same individual that appears in the Certificate of Temporary Import. * Photocopy of Passport The license is good for a three-month period, and may be renewed if the permit of temporary import is also renewed.
